Significance
Over 200 students and teachers at Westall High School in Melbourne, Australia witnessed a silver disc-shaped craft descend into an adjacent paddock, briefly land or hover, then ascend and depart at high speed on a clear morning in April 1966. Physical traces were found at the landing site. Multiple witnesses were subsequently interviewed by unidentified men in suits and warned not to discuss what they saw. A teacher who spoke openly was reportedly sacked. This is Australia’s most significant mass UAP sighting.
Consensus Narrative
No official Australian government acknowledgement. The RAAF investigated and classified its findings. Debunkers proposed a weather balloon or experimental aircraft. All conventional explanations have been rejected by witnesses who observed the object at close range and described structured metallic craft.
Documentary Record
The scale — 200+ witnesses including teaching staff — makes hoax or mass hallucination implausible. Physical evidence included a circular depression in the grass at the landing site. Former students who have spoken publicly as adults describe being silenced by authorities immediately after the event. The RAAF investigation was classified. The pattern of men in suits warning witnesses is identical to documented MIB (Men in Black) cases across US sightings of the same era.
