MUFON (founded 1969) and NUFORC (founded 1974) are the two largest civilian UAP reporting organisations in the world. MUFON operates a paid membership model with Field Investigators, a locked database, and annual symposiums. NUFORC runs a free public database with 160,000+ entries and is now formally collaborating with AARO. Their different models produce different data qualities and serve different research purposes.

MUFON’s Project Aquarius (projectaquarius.mufon.com) claims to be the world’s largest online UFO/UAP research library. It holds MARRS data (all paper UFO sighting reports pre-2000), scanned newspapers and magazine articles, historic MUFON Journals and Symposium Proceedings, visual sighting maps, and donated private collections. Access requires MUFON membership. The library is named for one of the most controversial alleged government UAP programmes.

The Archives for the Unexplained (AFU) in Norrköping, Sweden is the primary non-government repository for UAP records globally — including European and Russian case files that no government portal holds. In February 2026 AFU published ‘The Man Sitting on More UFO Evidence Than Anyone Alive.’ Clas Svahn, AFU’s director, was named Sweden’s People’s Educator of the Year 2024.

Enigma Labs (enigmalabs.io) is a private technology company building a structured, filterable global UAP sighting database. Coverage in Bloomberg, Fortune, Vice, and The Economist. Partner links with pentagonufofiles.io. Enigma allows users to filter specifically for transmedium and underwater sightings — making it the only civilian database where USO cases are a searchable category.

Australia’s DSTG published DSC 2084 on HPRF DEW. The US CRS published IF11882 updating DEW programmes. The UK MOD has active DEW programmes under Project Dragonfire. Canada and New Zealand participate through Five Eyes intelligence sharing and joint research programmes. The entire Anglophone military intelligence alliance is simultaneously developing directed energy weapons that can counter uninhabited aerial systems.

Australia’s Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) published an official unclassified fact sheet — DSC 2084 — explicitly listing “counter uninhabited aerial systems” as a primary application of high-power radio-frequency directed energy weapons. This is a Five Eyes partner nation’s official defence science publication directly connecting DEW technology to aerial objects that cannot be identified as conventional aircraft.

Brazil’s Arquivo Nacional holds UAP documents released under the Lei de Acesso a Informacao. The SIAN database at sian.an.gov.br provides access. The collection includes Operation Saucer files, SIOANI records, and Brazilian Air Force UAP investigations from the 1950s onward.

In 1977, the Brazilian Air Force launched Operação Prato — Operation Saucer — in response to mass UAP encounters in Colares, Pará state. Military teams documented injuries, physical evidence, and hundreds of civilian encounters. The files were classified and then partially released. Brazil’s National Archives now holds the UAP document collection at the SIAN database.

GEIPAN’s published statistics as of April 28, 2026: 3,351 classified cases. 27.8% perfectly explained. 38.8% probably explained. 30.3% unidentified due to lack of data. 3.2% — 106 cases — remain unexplained after full investigation. These are not reports dismissed without review. They are cases that received field investigation and still produced no explanation.

GEIPAN’s classification system was rebuilt in 2008 around two scientific parameters: strangeness and consistency. Every UAP report is scored on both axes. The result determines whether a case is A (explained), B (probably explained), C (insufficient data) or D (unexplained after investigation). D2 — multiple witnesses, physical evidence, ground traces — is the highest standard in the world for officially verified unexplained UAP.

While the US moves toward transparency, Germany’s UAP narrative is controlled by a single private, unregistered organisation run by a self-taught hobby astronomer with no university degree. Hans Jürgen Köhler of CENAP holds a 13,000-case archive hidden from the public while appearing weekly on national TV as Germany’s go-to UAP “expert” — with European Space Agency backing.

Liberation Times has documented how Russia’s firehose of falsehood disinformation playbook — high-volume, contradictory, rapid, reality-indifferent — has been deployed specifically against US UAP transparency efforts. The same tactics used after MH17 are now running in the UAP space.

Nick Pope ran the British Ministry of Defence’s UFO investigation programme from 1991-1994. He entered a skeptic and left convinced UAP were real and defensively significant. The UK programme was closed in 2009 citing ‘no defense significance.’ Pope, now a UAP commentator, says that assessment was wrong.
