Why Enigma Matters
Government UAP reporting systems — AARO, the old BAASS/MUFON pipeline, the PURSUE portal — are either classified, operationally constrained, or backward-looking. Enigma Labs is a real-time civilian intelligence layer. Users can submit sighting reports, and the database applies structured categorisation rather than accepting raw narrative accounts. This makes Enigma’s data analytically different from traditional UFO reporting databases: it is designed for pattern detection, not record-keeping.
The Transmedium Filter
Enigma Labs allows users to filter specifically for transmedium sightings — events where an object transitions between air and water, or between air and space. This makes Enigma currently the only civilian database where USO cases are a first-class searchable category rather than a buried subcategory within broader “UFO” records. Given that AARO’s all-domain mandate explicitly includes undersea and transmedium cases, Enigma’s civilian data represents a complementary open-source intelligence layer to AARO’s classified holdings.

Bloomberg covered Enigma Labs in July 2022 as the company described its mission to cut through internet noise around UAP sightings. Fortune published a profile the same month.
