Skinwalker Ranch

Skinwalker Ranch

Private facility — Uintah County, Utah
ACTIVE RESEARCH — PRIVATE OWNERSHIP

Skinwalker Ranch is a 512-acre property in the Uinta Basin of Utah that has experienced persistent, documented anomalous phenomena since at least the 1990s — UAP sightings, poltergeist activity, cattle mutilations, orbs, and anomalous electromagnetic readings. Robert Bigelow purchased the ranch in 1996 specifically to study the phenomena. BAASS — Bigelow’s research company contracted by DIA for AAWSAP — used Skinwalker as its primary field research site. The ranch is now owned by Brandon Fugal and is the subject of the History Channel series ‘The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch.’

History

The Sherman family, who owned the ranch before Bigelow, reported extraordinary phenomena beginning in the early 1990s: UAPs, cattle mutilations with no blood or tracks, apparent poltergeist activity, and physical effects on people and animals. George Knapp and Dr. Colm Kelleher investigated and co-authored ‘Hunt for the Skinwalker’ (2005). Bigelow purchased the property in 1996 for approximately $200,000. When Harry Reid learned of the ranch’s phenomena through Bigelow, it catalysed his effort to fund AAWSAP.

UAP Connection

Skinwalker Ranch is the direct catalyst for AAWSAP and by extension AATIP. Without Bigelow’s reports to Reid about the ranch, there would have been no UAP programme funding earmark. The ranch represents an anomalous phenomena site with a documented multi-decade record that government scientists investigated under classified conditions. BAASS researchers stationed at the ranch documented hundreds of anomalous events. The classified BAASS reports to DIA have not been publicly released.

Current Status

Brandon Fugal purchased the ranch from Bigelow in 2016. The History Channel series began in 2020. Ongoing scientific investigation is documented publicly through the series. The classified BAASS reports from the AAWSAP period remain under DIA control. The full picture of what was documented there during the 2008-2012 AAWSAP period has not been publicly disclosed.
