In 1978, following a wave of Italian UAP sightings, Prime Minister Giulio Andreotti formally designated the Aeronautica Militare as the institutional body responsible for collecting, verifying and monitoring OVNI reports. The programme is still running. Annual reports are published for every year from 2009 through 2025.
The Archives for the Unexplained (AFU) in Sweden is described as one of the most complete repositories for UAP-related data and folklore anywhere in the world. Founded in 1973, it holds books, magazines, UFO report files, audio and video recordings, clippings, and researchers’ personal archives. Its collections are partially accessible online at files.afu.se.
The Danish Air Force (Flyvevåbnet) published its entire UFO investigation archive in 2009. For years the Operations Center collected all UFO inquiries in a single folder after investigation. In 2009 they made all 329 pages publicly available as four downloadable PDFs on the official Danish Defence website.
PURSUE Release 01 includes footage of a UAP filmed over the Gulf of Oman on June 1, 2024. An inverted teardrop shape with a vertical pole attached to its underside, moving quickly over water, filmed by infrared sensor from a US aircraft. Remains unresolved.
On February 13, 2026, AARO published a white paper from its 2025 UAP Workshop titled “Narrative Data, Infrastructures, and Analysis.” The paper is publicly available on aaro.mil. It represents the most recent internally-produced analytical document from AARO’s research programme, published six weeks before PURSUE launched.
AARO’s UAP Records page confirms KONA BLUE was a real Department of Homeland Security sensitive compartment. Multiple interviewees told AARO it was established to protect the retrieval and exploitation of non-human biologics. AARO investigated. KONA BLUE was a prospective Special Access Program that was never approved or funded — but it was proposed.

AARO’s reporting trends page covers January 1996 to January 2026. Of closed cases: 52.1% were balloons, 32.1% satellites, 7.8% UAS. Morphology data shows 39.7% orb/sphere shapes and 32.3% lights. Most sightings occur at 20,000–25,000 feet. And 15 closed cases were identified as jetpacks.
Operation Highjump (1946–1947) was the largest Antarctic military expedition in history. Admiral Richard Byrd. 4,700 personnel. 13 ships. 33 aircraft. It ended early. Byrd’s post-expedition comments about adversaries with incredible flying objects were reported in a Chilean newspaper. The full operational record remains partially classified.
In 1991, Spain’s Ministry of Defence decided to begin declassifying its Air Force UAP records. No pressure from NATO. No congressional mandate. No public scandal forcing the issue. Spain simply decided that documents classified as ‘strange phenomena sightings’ no longer needed to be secret. The files were deposited in the Air Force library in 1992. They are online today.

Antarctica attracts more UAP and conspiracy theories than almost any place on Earth. The isolation, the difficulty of access, the Cold War military operations, and the Google Earth satellite imagery have produced a mythology that mixes genuine classified history with fabricated nonsense. GEIPAN’s classification system was rebuilt in 2008 around two scientific parameters: strangeness and consistency. Every UAP report is scored on both axes. The result determines whether a case is A (explained), B (probably explained), C (insufficient data) or D (unexplained after investigation). D2 — multiple witnesses, physical evidence, ground traces — is the highest standard in the world for officially verified unexplained UAP.
France has operated a continuous, state-funded UAP investigation body since 1977. GEIPAN — run under CNES, the French space agency — has processed 9,897 testimonies over 49 years, publishes all investigated cases online, and classifies phenomena using a rigorous A/B/C/D system. It is the most transparent national UAP programme in the world.
GEIPAN’s published statistics as of April 28, 2026: 3,351 classified cases. 27.8% perfectly explained. 38.8% probably explained. 30.3% unidentified due to lack of data. 3.2% — 106 cases — remain unexplained after full investigation. These are not reports dismissed without review. They are cases that received field investigation and still produced no explanation.
Six of the 16 PURSUE slideshow images are FBI infrared footage from September and December 2025 over the western United States. One shows an unidentified object below a helicopter. The FBI was conducting active aerial surveillance during this period — the same months as the mass drone incursion wave over US and NATO military installations.
The DoW unresolved UAP incident reports in PURSUE Release 01 carry PR-series numbers. The visible cases run from PR-011 to PR-049. That means there are at least 49 numbered incident reports in the filing system — and the ones shown in the portal slideshow are not consecutive. Cases PR-001 through PR-010 exist. What are they?
