AARO to Congress November 2024: “Large Metallic Cylinder Size of a Commercial Airplane” — Stationary, Then Vanished — “Blacker-Than-Black” 4-6 Foot Orb Shot Vertically “Many Times Faster Than Any Drone” — FAA Pilot Reports Near Reagan Airport Released

AARO Director Jon T. Kosloski testified to Congress in November 2024, presenting two specific unresolved cases classified as “anomalous.” CASE 1 — LARGE METALLIC CYLINDER: Government contractors leaving a US government facility at approximately 9am observed a “large metallic cylinder about the size of a commercial airplane” stationary in midair. It had a “very bright white light behind or around the object.” After roughly 15 to 20 seconds, the object suddenly disappeared without a trace. AARO classified this as unresolved — “anomalous.” CASE 2 — BLACKER-THAN-BLACK ORB: A law enforcement officer observed a large orb floating several hundred feet above the ground a couple of miles from his position. When he drove to its approximate location — a well-lit area — he observed the orb as being a “blacker than black” object approximately 4 to 6 feet wide. When he was 130 to 200 feet from the object, it tilted roughly 45 degrees before shooting vertically into the air many times faster than any drone the officer had seen before. AARO: unresolved anomalous case. FAA PILOT REPORTS (NARA-released, 2007-2024): Pilots near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport reported an “unknown phenomenon” strobing and moving as if running on a racetrack hundreds of feet above the airport before vanishing. A different aircraft confirmed a “long cylindrical object” passing directly over their aircraft. One pilot reported a UAP with alternating red, white and green lights that matched their speed, direction and altitude for over 15 minutes — a second aircraft confirmed the object — NORAD stated it “observed nothing in the area.” CONTEXT: The November 2024 testimony represents AARO acknowledging to Congress that unexplained cases include objects at government facilities, and craft observed by law enforcement with capabilities exceeding any known drone. The “blacker than black” description is consistent with stealth/absorption technology or non-reflective craft. Source: AARO.mil / media.defense.gov/2024/Nov/14/2003583603 / NARA FAA reports
