GAO Investigation Found ALL RAAF Administrative Records 1945-1949 Were Destroyed. ALL Outgoing Messages 1946-1949 Were Destroyed. No Documentation of Authority For This Destruction Was Found. No Other US Air Force Base Has Had Its Records Similarly Destroyed. The Roswell Museum Preserves What the Government Erased.

The GAO investigation (1994, triggered by New Mexico State Representative Stephen Schiff after J. Andrew Kissner’s early 1990s interviews with program participants) found: RAAF administrative records (finance/accounting, supplies, buildings/grounds, general administrative matters) from March 1945 through December 1949 — DESTROYED. RAAF outgoing messages from October 1946 through December 1949 — DESTROYED. Documentation indicating authority for this destruction: NONE FOUND. The GAO’s own summary: no documentation was found indicating the RAAF records destruction was properly authorized. Only two records from 1947 survived: the 509th unit history report (which describes the “flying disc” as a “radar tracking balloon”) and an FBI teletype from July 8, 1947. Every other administrative record from the world’s only nuclear bomb group during the critical 1945-1949 period: systematically erased. No other US Air Force base had comparable records destruction. CURRENT 2026 CONNECTION: The Roswell UFO Museum was co-founded by Walter Haut, whose sealed affidavit is the primary physical record of the Building 84 hangar contents. The debris from Roswell was flown to Wright-Patterson AFB — the same facility where McCasland commanded AFRL (now missing) and where Sullivan worked at NASIC before dying 2 weeks before scheduled UAP testimony. The records of the original event are gone. The people connected to the continuing program are now missing or dead. The museum in Roswell holds what remains: 160+ witness testimonies, the Haut affidavit, and the declassified documents that survived the erasure.
