The Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), founded 1969, maintains the world’s largest civilian UAP case database — over 100,000 documented cases as of March 2024. Their Case Management System (CMS) receives 500-1,000 global reports monthly. In the first 7 months of 2025: 1,959 cases globally, predominantly US-based. Shape breakdown of US cases: 42.4% disc/spherical/circular — consistent with SCU’s 70-year analysis. Only 5-10% of all reports survive full Field Investigator scrutiny and are classified as genuine Unknowns — those exhibiting impossible flight dynamics (instantaneous acceleration, right-angle turns, silent hovering), anomalous physical effects, or multiple-independent-witness corroboration. MUFON’s 500+ volunteer Field Investigators operate across all 50 US states and 43 countries. All FIs must pass an exam and background check. Funding: membership dues, TV licensing, annual symposium, TV/film licensing agreements. Three paid staff total. Critical context: MUFON’s raw data volume is valuable — the investigative quality is uneven. The genuine “Unknown” cases represent the same statistically anomalous subset documented by SCU peer-reviewed papers.
