SEFAA’s Monthly Case Reports: What Chile’s Resolved UAP Investigations Look Like in 2026

SEFAA publishes resolved UAP investigation cases every month. April 2026 included ten separate cases, each with a downloadable PDF investigation dossier. January 2026 included 15 cases. The case numbering reveals the programme’s scale: Case 2229 was filed on April 11, 2026. Chile has been doing this continuously since 1997 and counting from systematic records dating to the 1990s.

April 2026 Cases

The April 2026 release (published May 7, 2026) included Cases 1402, 1466, 2201, 2217, 2221, 2225, 2226, 2227, 2228, and 2229. Note the mix of case numbers: cases 1402 and 1466 date from January and February 2021 but appear in the April 2026 publication — indicating that SEFAA resolves and publishes cases on a completion timeline, not a filing timeline. Cases can be under investigation for years before being published.

January 2026 Cases

The January 2026 release (published February 5, 2026) included 15 cases spanning October 2024 through January 2026 — again showing the rolling investigation timeline. Cases filed in late 2024 were being resolved and published in early 2026.

What Each PDF Contains

Each case PDF is a complete investigation dossier — the case number, incident date, initial report, SEFAA’s investigation methodology, the evidence reviewed, and the resolution finding. These are not press releases. They are primary investigation documents from Chile’s civil aviation authority, equivalent in institutional weight to a formal safety investigation report. All are freely downloadable from sefaa.dgac.gob.cl without registration.
