New reporting confirms Matthew James Sullivan’s cause of death: a combination of alcohol, alprazolam (Xanax), cyclobenzaprine (a powerful prescription muscle relaxant), and imipramine (a psychiatric drug used to treat anxiety). Sullivan was found dead at his Falls Church, Virginia home on May 12, 2024 — mere weeks after agreeing to testify before Congress on UAP. He was 39. His full institutional background is now documented: Air Force Intelligence Agency, National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) at Wright-Patterson AFB where he was Deputy Director, and the National Security Agency. He earned a Bronze Star for valor in Operation Enduring Freedom. Sullivan was “part of the legacy UFO Program, also known as the US government’s crash retrieval program that has operated across several executive branch agencies.” Rep. Eric Burlison’s April 16 letter to FBI Director Kash Patel: “The sudden and suspicious circumstances surrounding his death raise significant concerns about potential foul play and the safety of other individuals involved in this matter.” IC Inspector General deemed his case “urgent and credible” and referred it to the FBI. Sullivan worked for the NSA — the same agency that has 156 classified COMINT intercepts on UAPs that it withheld in federal court.
