Walter Haut — RAAF Press Release Author, Co-Founder of the Roswell UFO Museum — Signed a Sealed Affidavit in 2002 Confessing He Personally Saw the Craft and Bodies. Released After His Death in 2005. Signed at the Museum Itself. Had Privately Confirmed the Bodies to His Neighbor 16 Years Before His Death.

1st Lt. Walter Haut (June 3, 1922 – December 15, 2005) was the 509th Bomb Group’s Public Information Officer who wrote the original July 8, 1947 press release announcing recovery of “a flying disc.” He publicly denied seeing any craft or bodies for 58 years. In 2002, he signed a sealed affidavit at the International UFO Museum and Research Center in front of daughter Julie Shuster and notary Beverlee Morgan — a document to be opened only after his death. Published in 2007’s “Witness to Roswell.” SPECIFIC CONTENTS: (1) Col. Blanchard personally took him to Building 84 (Hangar P-3), which was under heavy guard both outside and inside. (2) The craft: metallic, egg-shaped, approximately 12-15 feet long, 6 feet high, no windows, no wings, no tail, no landing gear — no identifiable features of any known aircraft. (3) Two bodies on the floor, partially covered by tarpaulin, approximately 1.2 meters tall, with disproportionately large heads. (4) He personally handled debris at a morning meeting July 7, 1947 — unlike anything he or anyone else had ever seen. (5) TWO crash sites: Foster Ranch debris field AND a second site approximately 40 miles north of Roswell found by civilians July 7. (6) Conclusion: “I am convinced that what I personally observed was some kind of craft and its crew from outer space.” KEY VERIFICATION: He privately confirmed seeing the bodies to close friend and neighbor Robert Shirkey in 1989 — 16 years before his death — confirming this was not a late-life fabrication. His daughter Julie Shuster (daughter’s direct statement): “He said the craft was about 25 feet in diameter.” The affidavit was signed and notarized at the same museum he co-founded in 1991.
