In March 2026, The Debrief reported that authorities in Albuquerque were actively searching for retired U.S. Air Force Major General William Neil McCasland — former commander of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, the facility at the center of UAP retrieval allegations for 70 years.
Who Is Neil McCasland
William Neil McCasland served as commander of the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson AFB — the same facility where Project Sign, Grudge, and Blue Book were housed, and where multiple witnesses have alleged recovered craft and materials have been stored since 1947. AFRL is the DoD’s primary science and technology research organization, responsible for leading the discovery, development, and integration of warfighting technologies. McCasland retired after commanding AFRL.
The UFO Connection
McCasland had previously been linked in UAP research circles to knowledge of classified UAP programs. The Debrief’s Micah Hanks reported on March 11, 2026 that authorities in Albuquerque, New Mexico were continuing to search for clues in his disappearance. The case occurred in the same period as intense congressional scrutiny of the 13 missing or dead scientists linked to UAP programs.
Wright-Patterson and UAP
Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio is the single most cited facility in UAP retrieval testimony. Senator Barry Goldwater was denied access to the “Blue Room” at Wright-Patterson in the 1960s — a story he repeated publicly multiple times. General Arthur Exon confirmed in 1994 that recovered Roswell materials were analyzed at Wright-Patterson. The facility’s Foreign Technology Division became the Air Force Materiel Command, with AFRL as its successor organization — the command McCasland led.
McCasland’s disappearance has not been resolved as of the publication of this article. The case remains open. UAP Oracle will update as information becomes available.
