MQ-9 Achieves Weapons Lock on Mushroom-Shaped UAP Over Syria: Five Eyes Classifies Encounter as Non-Human
New footage released in February 2026 shows a US Air Force MQ-9 Reaper achieving weapons-quality sensor lock on a mushroom-shaped UAP along the Syria-Jordan border in 2021. The object then executes apparent instantaneous acceleration. A Five Eyes intelligence report classified the encounter as UAP. The CIA Director and the Secretary of Defense had already publicly acknowledged on camera that UAP possess technology the US does not.
The Footage
On 3 February 2026, investigative journalists Jeremy Corbell and George Knapp released footage showing a mushroom-shaped unidentified object tracked by an MQ-9 Reaper drone operating under US Air Force direction along the Syria-Jordan border. The clip dates to 2021. The object executes what appears to be instantaneous acceleration — a flight characteristic that until now existed primarily in testimony and pilot accounts rather than publicly available imagery.
The footage was captured using a thermographic Forward Looking Infrared sensor. On-screen symbology confirms the system achieved a weapons-quality lock on the object. Moments later, the object departs — appearing to accelerate and potentially change direction in a manner inconsistent with any known propulsion system. There are no visible wings, control surfaces, or conventional engine signatures.
Objects that demonstrate technologies that seem to defy the law of physics and capabilities that we don’t have as the world’s superpower.
— John Ratcliffe — then-DNI, now CIA Director — speaking to Pete Hegseth, now Secretary of Defense, January 2023
The Five Eyes Classification
According to Corbell, a Five Eyes intelligence report generated following the initial event classified the object as UAP. The report described an uptick in encounters over Syria and Iraq involving the USAF, the UK Royal Air Force, the Royal Canadian Air Force, and Russian and Syrian military forces. The RAF separately intercepted a similar mushroom-profile object — a photograph of which was previously released by Corbell and Knapp — and the UK Ministry of Defence classified that encounter.
What Ratcliffe Told Hegseth
The footage’s release carries a specific institutional weight because of who acknowledged UAP reality before taking senior government positions. In January 2023, John Ratcliffe — now Director of the CIA — told Pete Hegseth — now Secretary of Defense — that UAP ‘demonstrate technologies that seem to defy the law of physics and capabilities that we don’t have as the world’s superpower.’ Both men are now in the most senior positions relevant to any UAP program decision.
If the mushroom footage shows what it appears to show, the United States military has been achieving weapons-quality sensor lock on technology it cannot match, cannot explain, and cannot publicly acknowledge — while two of its now-senior officials had already privately stated this on camera three years earlier.
