Project Stargate (also known as Grill Flame, Center Lane, Sun Streak) was the US government’s classified remote viewing research and intelligence program — operational from 1972 to 1995. Funded by the CIA, Defense Intelligence Agency, and US Army Intelligence, the program trained individuals to perceive information about distant locations or objects using only mental faculties — a capability the program called “remote viewing.” After 23 years of classified operation, the CIA declassified the program in 1995. Results sufficient to continue funding: A 1995 review by the American Institutes for Research (AIR) confirmed that remote viewing had produced results “well above chance” in controlled laboratory conditions. Operationally, remote viewers had been used to locate hostages in Iran, identify Soviet submarine facilities, and describe classified installations they had never physically visited — with sufficient accuracy to maintain CIA funding for 23 years. The program was not pseudoscience kept alive by true believers. It was a DIA and CIA-funded operational intelligence capability that produced actionable information.
The UAP-psionic connection: Jake Barber (the UAP retrieval operative) confirmed in his 2025 interview that psionic protocols are used in some UAP interaction and retrieval operations. Hal Puthoff — who ran the Stanford Research Institute remote viewing program and helped develop Stargate — co-founded TTSA with Tom DeLonge. The AAWSAP program included consciousness research as a component.
