SEFAA: Chile’s Civil Aviation Authority Is Publishing Individual UAP Case PDFs Every Month in 2026

Chile’s SEFAA — the Sección de Estudios de Fenómenos Aéreos Anómalos, under the Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil (DGAC) — is one of the most operationally active national UAP investigation offices in the world. In 2026 it is publishing individual numbered case resolution PDFs on a monthly basis. The April 2026 batch, published May 7, 2026, contains 10 separate downloadable case files.

What the Monthly Case System Shows

Each case is assigned a number and a date: CASO N° 2229, for example, refers to the 2,229th case in SEFAA’s record system, investigated on April 11, 2026. The April 2026 batch includes cases dating from January 2021 (N° 1402) through April 2026 (N° 2229) — demonstrating that older cases continue to be resolved and published as investigations conclude, alongside current reports. This is a living, ongoing, numbered case system with a public record stretching back years.

The Airspace SEFAA Covers

SEFAA’s operational area is extraordinary. Chile manages 32 million square kilometres of airspace — from Arica in the far north, between 120° and 131° west longitude, extending south to the South Pole. This includes the entirety of Chile’s Pacific oceanic territory and Antarctic responsibility zone. It is one of the largest national airspace jurisdictions on Earth, covering both continental Chile and vast oceanic and polar reaches that receive minimal civilian air traffic and maximum astronomical clarity.

Reporting System

Anyone can report a UAP sighting to SEFAA at servicios.dgac.gob.cl/reportes-sefaa. SEFAA requests: precise date, time, and compass direction of the sighting; exact location; description of surroundings and lighting conditions; and critically, unmodified original files — not screenshots, WhatsApp copies, or social media exports, all of which alter the original data and compromise analysis. Files up to 50MB can be attached directly; larger files via Google Drive.

2026 Activity

SEFAA published cases for January, February, March, and April 2026 by May 7, 2026 — maintaining monthly cadence. The programme also held institutional presentations at Chilean airfields in May 2026, including at the Aeródromo de La Independencia in Rancagua. SEFAA launched its social media channels in February 2025. The programme is active, visible, and publicly engaged.
